Minnesota's Brannon McManus Earns Big Ten Hockey Accolades

Gopher Hockey freshman Brannon McManus has been tabbed the Big Ten Third Star of the Week after recording his first career hat trick in Minnesota's 6-3 win over Penn State on Sunday at 3M Arena at Mariucci.

A native of Newport Beach, Calif., McManus scored three goals - his first three collegiate tallies - on three shots in the third period including the eventual game-winning goal. His three goals led all Big Ten skaters as well as all NCAA freshmen over the weekend. The forward was plus-three on the night and also added a block in the win.

The Gophers (2-2-0 overall, 1-1-0-0 Big Ten) return to nonconference action next weekend with a two-game series against North Dakota. Minnesota will be making its first trip to Grand Forks, N.D. since the 2011-12 season.

Single-game tickets, season tickets and flexible Pick-Your-Packs are currently available at GopherSports.com, by calling 1-800-U-Gopher or by stopping by the ticket office at 3M Arena at Mariucci.
