Vanderbilt baseball earned a pair of weekly honors from the SEC as Devin Futrell was named Pitcher of the Week and Chris Maldonado was named Co-Freshman of the Week.

Futrell tossed eight shutout innings in Sunday’s win over Georgia. The sophomore struck out seven and didn’t allow a walk while holding the Bulldogs to only three hits.

Maldonado reached base eight times in the three-game sweep against Georgia. The freshman totaled six hits with three of those going for extra bases. Maldonado recorded the go-ahead RBI twice in Saturday’s win.

The duo helped lead the Commodores to their third consecutive sweep of a conference opponent.

Vanderbilt (23-5, 9-0 SEC) hosts Western Kentucky at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Hawkins Field with action airing on SEC Network+.
