Colorado State men's basketball welcomes home yet another Colorado native in Javonte Johnson. The product of Cheyenne Mountain High School comes to Fort Collins after spending the past three seasons at New Mexico.

"Javonte is a high-level player we are excited to add to our roster," head coach Niko Medved said. "He comes in with a wealth of knowledge about the Mountain West after being a two-year starter at New Mexico. His game is a great fit for our system."

Johnson was a consistent starter for New Mexico the past two seasons making 62 starts combined. He did a little of everything for the Lobos averaging 5.8 points and 3.6 rebounds this past season. He is a 35.5% 3-point shooter for his career and led New Mexico in 2021-22 with a mark of 45.4%.

Coming out of high school, Johnson was the No. 2 ranked player in the state of Colorado by 247Sports, earning a three-star recruit mark from both 247Sports and Rivals. Johnson was the 2020 CHSAA 4A Player of the Year and first team All-State selection averaging 30.0 points and 100.2 rebounds.

Johnson played club basketball growing up with fellow new Ram Nique Clifford.
