Lynn Greer, who is the second all-time leading scorer in Temple Men's Basketball history with 2,099 points, is returning to his alma mater as the program's Chief of Staff, announced Owls' head coach Adam Fisher.

"I am excited to bring Lynn and his family back to Temple University as our Chief of Staff," said Fisher. "Lynn's success as a player and the impact he has had on the Temple and Philadelphia community is a great reminder for our players the impact Temple will have on their lives beyond basketball. Lynn exemplifies what it means to be Temple Made and Temple Proud."

"I am so excited to be coming back to Temple and I am looking forward to helping Coach Fisher push the program forward every day," said Greer. "The best journey takes you home!!"

A star performer for Temple from 1997 through 2002, Greer is one of only four Owls to score 2,000 career points. The 6-1 guard turned in one of the best offensive seasons in Temple men's basketball history as a senior in 2001-02. That year he averaged 23.2 points, scoring 719 points (3rd on the TU single-season list), while earning First Team All-Atlantic 10 Conference, NABC All-District and Philadelphia Big 5 Most Valuable Player honors. It was the second straight year he was named first team All-Conference, All-District and All-Big 5.

The Philadelphia native (Engineering and Science HS) also set school records for single-season three-point accuracy (.472, still standing) and career free throw percentage (.852), eclipsed by Shizz Alston, Jr. in 2019. Greer, who is second on Temple's all-time games played list (137), was a member of four NCAA Tournament teams, including two Elite Eight trips (1999, 2001), and one NIT Final Four (2002) in his career.

Upon graduation, he played 13 seasons of professional basketball, including one season in the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks (2006-07), before retiring as a player in 2015. He earned many accolades during his international career, including Most Valuable Player of Lega A, the top professional league in Italy.
He was inducted into the Temple Athletics Hall of Fame in 2016 and the Philadelphia Big 5 Hall of Fame in 2017.
