Dion Brown will continue his academic and athletic career as a member of the Boston College men's basketball program, head coach Earl Grant announced.

A traditional transfer from UMBC, Brown will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Originally from Great Barrington, Mass., Brown was a 2023-24 First Team All-America East honoree. He led the Retrievers - and ranked third in the America East - in scoring, averaging 19.0 points per game. A 6-3, 185-pound guard, Brown also ranked fifth in the conference in rebounding, averaging 7.6 boards per outing. He was one of only two players nationally standing at 6-3 that averaged at least 19 points and seven boards per game (Devin Carter, Providence).

"Dion is a relentless competitor. He has a knack for scoring the ball in a variety of ways and has shown the ability to score at all three levels," Grant said. "He has a great mid-range game, shoots it well from the 3-point line, and is very physical when attacking the basket. He has the tools to be a big-time defender as well. I'm excited to have him join our program!"

In league play this past season, Brown led the America East in scoring (21.4 ppg) and rebounding (9.6), finishing the season with 607 points and a spot on the 2023-24 NABC District I team. As a freshman, he was named to the 2022-23 America East All-Rookie team after averaging 7.7 points and 4.0 rebounds in 22 games played. Despite missing the first 11 games of his first collegiate season, Brown reached double-digits in the scoring column seven times.

As a prep, Brown lettered in both soccer and basketball for three seasons at Monument Mountain H.S. in Great Barrington, before finishing at Vermont Academy.
