Freshman forward Greg Brown registered 24 points and 14 rebounds, while junior guard Andrew Jones tied his career high with 22 points to pace No. 11/11 Texas (7-1, 1-0 Big 12) to a 77-74 victory against Oklahoma State (6-2, 0-2 Big 12) on Sunday afternoon at the Frank Erwin Center. Brown converted 7-of-14 field goals and 7-of-11 free throws while tying his career high with three blocked shots in a career-best 26 minutes.

Andrew Jones hit 8-of-17 field goals, including 3-of-6 from three-point range, and added a season-high seven rebounds and four assists in a season-high 34 minutes. Senior guard Matt Coleman III tallied 15 points (9-of-10 free throws), tied his career high with seven rebounds and added four assists without a turnover and two steals.

The Cowboys jumped out to a 15-9 advantage following a pair of Bryce Williams free throws at the 10:18 mark of the first half. Texas responded with a 12-2 run over the next three minutes to grab a 21-17 lead after an Andrew Jones three-pointer with 7:27 left. Trailing 27-26 at the 4:01 mark, Oklahoma State closed the half with an 8-2 spurt to take a 34-29 cushion into the break.

Trailing 42-38 after an Isaac Likekele layup with 14:44 remaining, the Longhorns responded with a 17-0 run over the next four minutes to build a 55-42 lead following another Andrew Jones three-pointer at the 10:49 mark. Texas held a 70-61 cushion after a third Andrew Jones three with 3:33 left, but the Cowboys scored five straight points to trim the margin to 70-66 following a Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe layup at the 1:25 mark.

Oklahoma State closed the deficit to two points twice in the final 21 seconds, but that was as close as the Cowboys would get. Texas hit 6-of-8 free throws in the last 37 seconds to seal the victory.

Texas returns to action when it hosts Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Tuesday, Dec. 29. Tip is set for 7 p.m. CT at the Erwin Center, and the game will be televised nationally by Longhorn Network.
