Mike Norvell Signs Contract Extension with the Memphis Tigers

One hot coaching name that has been thrown around the past few weeks is now off the table with Memphis head football coach Mike Norvell signing a contract extension on Tuesday with with UM to remain with the Tigers.

While the terms of the new contract were not made immediately available, the Memphis head coach tweeted out this message from his official account:

Sources close to the situation are saying Norvell's new deal runs through the 2022 season and is worth a reported $13 million. In addition to the coach getting a bump in pay, his assistant coaching staff will get an increase of $250,000.

Norvell's name has been linked to multiple high-profile positions at schools in the SEC, including both Arkansas and Tennessee as the regular-season came to a close and bowl season loomed.

The focus of the Tigers now turns to Memphis' Liberty Bowl appearance against the Big 12's Iowa State Cyclones.
