The American Athletic Conference held its winter meeting of the league's presidents and athletics directors on Wednesday, January 10 in Atlanta, Georgia.

The AAC Daily returns after taking Monday off to honor the late Dr. Martin Luther King and there is a lot to catch up on in The American. The league announced weekly honors for men's basketball with Memphis Tigers guard Jeremiah Martin being named Player of the Week while Temple freshmen Nate Pierre-Louis was named the conference's Rookie of the Week.

USF made solid progress against its second straight top-25 foe, leading No. 14/13 Cincinnati for most of the first half before falling, 78-55, Saturday night at the Sun Dome.

Conner Frankamp and Landry Shamet scored 16 points each to help No. 5/5 Wichita State turn back Tulsa, 72-69, Saturday evening at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.

When the news broke that The American was adding Wichita State in all sports (except football, of course), fans of the league were ecstatic as it meant the conference was getting a basketball program that would boost the strength of schedule for every member and it would help deliver more excitement to home games for schools like UConn, USF, Temple and Cincinnati, which were used to big time conference opponents from their time in the Big East.
