The Iowa State men's basketball team has added Virginia transfer Marial Shayok, head coach Steve Prohm announced. Shayok, a 6-5 guard out of Ottawa, Ontario, will have one season of eligibility remaining after sitting out the 2017-18 season per NCAA transfer rules.

The City of Columbia and Colonial Life Arena have been awarded a bid from the NCAA and have been selected as one of eight sites to host NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament First and Second Rounds in 2019. Games will be played at Colonial Life Arena on March 22 and 24, and the University of South Carolina will serve as the host school for the site. Columbia will be hosting men's tournament action for the first time since 1970.

University of Memphis head men's basketball coach Tubby Smith has announced that Kyvon Davenport, a 6-8 forward who was named a First Team National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American and played the last two seasons at Georgia Highlands College, has signed his National Letter of Intent to play basketball for the Tigers starting in the 2017-18 season.

Kansas State is proving that it wants to continue competing on the highest level of college athletics after it was announced that the Wildcats athletic department will be led by a person who is known for delivering national championships to his school. K-State, in search of a new athletic director, has turned to Gene Taylor, the current Deputy Athletics Director at Iowa who also spent more than a decade leading North Dakota State to championship levels.

University of Oklahoma head men's basketball coach Lon Kruger announced the signing of guard Trae Young to a national letter of intent on the first day of the 2017 spring signing period. Growing up just minutes from the OU campus, Young will join the Sooners as a freshman next season after attending Norman North High School.
