Despite a valiant third-period rally, the Miami hockey team was unable to erase a four-goal deficit and dropped a 4-3 decision to Omaha on Saturday night.

The University of Michigan ice hockey team defeated No. 9-ranked Minnesota, 3-1, on the road Saturday night (Jan. 13). The win gave the Wolverines their first sweep against Minnesota since the 2014-15 season, and the first sweep on the road against the Gophers since the 1976-77 season.

Three NCHC teamsbegin play in 2018 this weekend, while seven NCHC teams are in action with three conference series and one non-conference clash on the schedule. Two of the NCHC series are top-20 battles as No. 2/2 St. Cloud State hosts No. 12/12 Western Michigan, with SCSU looking to grab sole possession of first place, while No. 20 Miami heads west to face No. 17 Omaha.

Boston College and Providence close out the three-game regular season series on Friday, Jan. 12 at Kelley Rink. This marks the first closure of BC's four three-game Hockey East series. With the departure of Notre Dame, Hockey East has had each team play four other programs three times. For the Eagles, those four teams are Providence, UConn, Lowell and Maine.

The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team hits the road for another Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) weekend series at Lake Superior State on Friday and Saturday (Jan. 12-13) nights in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.
