Head coach Red Berenson announced today that he is retiring after 33 seasons at the helm of the University of Michigan ice hockey program and that he will remain as a special advisor to Warde Manuel, the Donald R. Shepherd Director of Athletics.

What began as a close back and forth contest quickly turned into a 10-3 blowout as the Penn State Nittany Lions defeated the Union Dutchmen in dominant fashion on Saturday to advance to the Midwest Regional Final on the road to the Frozen Four.

Junior netminder Danny Tirone (Trumbull, Conn.) of the University of New Hampshire men's hockey team was named the Hockey East Player of the Week Monday after helping the Wildcats defeat Merrimack College in the best-of-3 Hockey East Opening Round last weekend.
