Incoming Troy freshman wide receiver Peyton Higgins was named to the Alabama Sports Writers Association Super All-State Team Tuesday evening. Selected by ASWA members, the team is comprised of the top 12 players in the state, regardless of classification or position.

Higgins, who was also named Alabama's 2A Back of the Year, totaled 2,477 yards and 29 touchdowns in leading Mars Hill Bible to the state title. He rushed for 1,503 yards and 19 scores while pulling down 17 passes for 377 yards and four touchdowns.

The Alabama state record holder (all classifications) with nine career kickoff return touchdowns and five in a single season, Higgins returned a pair of punts for a touchdown and one kickoff for a score this past season.

He finished his career at Mars Hill with 8,945 all-purpose yards and 100 touchdowns and led the Panthers to a pair of state titles and one runner up finish; Mars Hill went 1-9 in each of the three seasons prior to Higgins' arrival.

Higgins is a member of Troy's highest-rated signing class in school history per 247Sports. Troy's 16 signees, which doesn't include four transfers from Power Five programs, carry an average .8194 rating from 247Sports, which is the highest in program history.
