After breakout offensive showings, sophomore forward Gordie Green (Ann Arbor, Mich./Dubuque (USHL)) and junior defenseman Grant Hutton (Carmel, Ind./Janesville (NAHL)) have earned weekly honors from the National Collegiate Hockey Conference.

Green was named the NCHC's Offensive Player of the Week while Hutton earned NCHC Defenseman of the Week accolades.

Green notched seven points in Miami's weekend split at Maine, posting multiple points in each contest to move up to a tie for the team's scoring lead. In Friday's 7-5 victory, Green netted two goals and three assists, both career highs, to post Miami's first five-point game since Nov. 30, 2013. He followed that up with assisting on two of the RedHawks' three goals in Saturday's finale.

Hutton notched the first two multi-goal games of his career and has now recorded multiple points in three-straight outings. On Friday, Hutton blasted home a pair of power play tallies in the eventual 7-5 Miami win at Maine. He then contributed to each of Miami's goals on Saturday with two tallies and a helper, giving him a career-best three points. He is tied with Green for the RedHawks' scoring lead with seven points on a team-leading five goals and two assists.

This is the first time that Green has been named NCHC Player of the Week while Hutton's NCHC Defenseman of the Week award is the first of his career. He did earn NCHC Rookie of the Week once as a freshman during the 2015-16 campaign.

Green and the RedHawks open up a home series against UConn on Friday evening. Puck drop is at 7:35 p.m.
