Boston College and No. 12 Northeastern skated to a 3-3 tie in a back-and-forth affair on Tuesday night in a non-conference game at Matthews Arena.

Freshman Cutter Gauthier scored his first collegiate goal in the third period during his NCAA debut, while juniors Trevor Kuntar and Colby Ambrosio lit the lamp in the second period.

Mitch Benson finished the night with 32 saves for Boston College (1-1-1, 1-0-0 HEA).

Aidan McDonough gave Northeastern (3-1-1, 2-1-0 HEA) a 1-0 lead on a power play one-timer from the right wing exactly 11 minutes into the first period.

Early in the second, Kuntar equalized from the same wing with a blistering snap shot that beat Devon Levi (30 saves) short side off the near post. Rookies Oskar Jellvik and Lukas Gustafsson picked up the assists on the power play tally.

Ambrosio handed the Eagles their first lead at 6:53, racing onto a feed from captain Marshall Warren down the middle of the ice before sneaking a forehand shot under Levi's right armpit.

NU answered at 11:04 of the second when Matt DeMelis finished a loose puck at the right post following a netfront scramble.

Eight minutes into the third, an individual effort from the fifth overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft restored the Eagles' lead. Gauthier cut around a defender with speed along the right wing to create a 2-on-1 with Nikita Nesterenko, absorbed a slash for a delayed penalty, and slid a shot five-hole on Levi.

The Huskies once again had the answer as Jack Hughes deked his way into the left wing circle and fired a shot high glove side to knot the score at 9:52.

Ambrosio and Kuntar both had quality chances during the 3-on-3 overtime session, but Levi was able to deny both with timely saves.

Boston College returns to Hockey East play on Sunday when it hosts UNH at 1 p.m. on the Heights.
