Attention in The American is turning to basketball now that football is over (reminder: UCF won the national championship) and conference play starts to shift into high gear. Last night saw the Memphis Tigers come alive and come together as a cohesive unit to top the Tulane Green Wave thanks to a strong performance from Jeremiah Martin.

Nebraska fans have been desperately hoping that UCF's quarterback would transfer out of Orlando and come play in Lincoln so the Huskers could see some of the brilliant offense that Knights fans saw all season.

Kansas football's offensive lineman Jayson Rhodes, who recently completed his eligibility, is heading to Daytona Beach, Florida for the third annual Tropical Bowl, which will be held at Daytona Beach Municipal Stadium on Sunday, Jan. 14 at 8 a.m. (CT). Rhodes will look to showcase his skills in an effort to secure a spot at the next level, while also representing Kansas football on the all-star level.

Another day and another example of blatant disrespect for the American Athletic Conference. It's not all bad, however, as three teams finished in the Top 25 of the final AP Poll with the UCF Knights coming in at No. 6, the USF Bulls taking the No. 21 spot and the Memphis Tigers rounding things off at No. 25.
