Bruins Football Back in LA to Host Arizona State Saturday

UCLA (4-5, 2-4) returns to the Rose Bowl on Saturday, Nov. 11 to play host to Arizona State (5-4,4-2) at 6:30 p.m. PT in the Veteran and Armed Forces Appreciation Game. The game will be televised by the Pac-12 Network.

UCLA owns an 8-7-1 advantage in the series games played in the Rose Bowl. However, the Sun Devils have captured three of the last four meetings in the series, including the last two played in Pasadena. Four of the last six series meetings, two wins by each team, have been decided by five points or less --- 2016: ASU wins 23-20, 2013: ASU wins 38-33, 2012: UCLA wins 45-43, 2011: UCLA wins 29-28. Neither team has been able to win more than two games in a row in the series since UCLA captured three straight in the 2000, 2001, 2003 seasons.

In last year's meeting in Tempe, Josh Rosen registered his first career 400-yard passing effort. However, UCLA had four turnovers for the contest and missed on a couple of scoring opportunities in the first half. Rosen left in the first half with a lower body injury, but returned in the third quarter to throw touchdown passes to Jordan Lasley and Nate Iese. A shoulder injury sent him to the sidelines in the fourth quarter after he completed 24 of 43 passing attempts. Sun Devil Zane Gonzalez kicked three field goals to become the NCAA's all-time leader and ASU grinded out a 23-20 victory.

• LB Kenny Young leads the team in tackles (69) and his average per game of 8.6 is fourth in P12. S Jaleel Wadood ranks third in the P12 in solo tackles (48) ... Wadood is second on the squad with 61 overall tackles (9th in P12 7.6 per game); and S Adarius Pickett is third with 59 stops; CB Nate Meadors tops the team with five pass break-ups; Jaelan Phillips leads with 6.0 TFLs followed by Keisean Lucier-South, Chigozie Nnoruka, Marcus Moore and Osa Odighizuwa with 5.5 TFLs; Jacob Tuioti-Mariner tops the team with 3.5 sacks.
• UCLA is 4-0 while playing in the Rose Bowl this season ... the last time the Bruins registered a perfect mark at home was in 2005 (6-0).
• WR Theo Howard leads the team with a reception in each of the last 12 games and has a total of 10 catches over last three games.
• LB Kenny Young has 66 tackles in the last 6 games, with 12-each at Stanford, vs. Colorado, vs. Oregon and at Utah, to go with10 at Arizona.
• Last 3 games: DL Marcus Moore has 14 tackles, 5.5 TFL and a forced fumble; DL Osa Odighizuwa has 10 tackles, 3.5 TFL and fumble return for TD; LB/DE Keisean Lucier-South has made 21 tackles.
• Jaleel Wadood (268) needs 11 more tackles and Kenny Young (263) 16 more stops to move into the all-time Bruin Top 20 tackle list.
• Six players in their first-year as starters were in opening lineup on defense at Utah - DL Chigozie Nnoruka, DL Boss Tagaloa, DL Marcus Moore, LB Keisean Lucier-South, LB Krys Barnes, CB Darnay Holmes ... 10 freshman (R=redshirt) defenders played at Utah: DL Martin Andrus, CB Darnay Holmes, LB Rahyme Johnson, LB Mique Juarez (R), S Quentin Lake, DL Marcus Moore (R), Osa Odighizuwa (R), CB Mo Osling III, DL Jaelan Phillips, DL Greg Rogers. Three freshmen started on offense at Utah - QB Devon Modster (R), TE Jordan Wilson (R), G Michael Alves (R).

• Punter Stefan Flintoft, on the Ray Guy Watch List, has placed 15 of his 39 punts inside the opponent's 20-yard line; he boomed a career-long 63-yarder against Texas A&M and has 7 kicks of 50+ yards this season.
• The Bruins are 38-3 under Coach Mora when ahead at the half.
• Since the start of the 2012 season, UCLA has won 24 of 29 games (83%) when winning the turnover battle and owns a record of 21-24 (47%) in games when losing or tying the turnover ratio.
