Utah Utes Men's Basketball Set To Host Montana Tech

Utah will make its final preparations for the upcoming 2017-18 season, hosting Montana Tech in an exhibition contest this Wednesday, Nov. 1. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside the Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City.

The Runnin' Utes are coming off a 20-12 campaign from 2016-17, which included an 11-7 record and fourth-place finish in Pac-12 Conference play.

Utah returns a total of 10 letterwinners from last season's squad, which includes senior forward David Collette, who started 22 of 32 games while averaging 13.6 points and 5.1 rebounds, and tallied a team-best .596 shooting percentage from the field. Other starters returning to the team include junior guard Sedrick Barefield (three starts, 9.0 ppg), senior forward Tyler Rawson (eight starts, 6.0), junior guard Parker Van Dyke (11 starts, 4.6), sophomore forward Jayce Johnson (six starts, 4.0), and senior guard/forward Gabe Bealer (six starts, 3.6).

Utah will host Montana Tech in exhibition action this Wednesday, Nov. 1. Tip-off between the Utes and Orediggers is set for 7 p.m. inside the Huntsman Center.

The Orediggers opened its 2017-18 season back on Oct. 27, picking up a home win over Yellowstone Christian, 114-56. Montana Tech will head to Utah for its exhibition contest with the Utes on Wednesday, and will then return to its regular-season schedule on Friday, hosting Nueta Hidatsa (N.D.).
In its win over YCC, the Orediggers led 66-24 at the break, shooting 68 percent from the field, which included hitting 11-of-15 shots from three-point range. Montana Tech would finish the contest shooting 65 percent from the field, 63 percent from downtown and 85 percent from the free throw line.
Dylan Pannabecker led the way with 16 points on 7-of-7 shooting from the field and a 2-for-2 effort from the charity stripe. John Chapman added 15 points (5-of-6 FG) and Nick Fitts chipped in with 14 points (5-of-7 FG). Carson Dummer led Montana Tech with six boards and Chris O'Neill tallied a team-best seven assists on the evening.
Utah is 1-0 all-time when facing the Orediggers. The lone contest came back on Dec. 1, 1992, with the Utes winning 82-62. This marks the first exhibition contest with the Orediggers.

Utah will open the 2017-18 regular-season hosting Prairie View A&M next Friday, Nov. 10. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. MT inside the Huntsman Center.
