The Tulane track and field program welcomes nine newcomers to the program ahead of the 2021 indoor and outdoor campaigns as announced by director of track and field and cross country Eric Peterson.

Imani Davis – Mid-Distance – Chicago, Ill. – Indiana State University
 
Davis previously ran track at Indiana State University. She earned multiple All-Missouri Valley Conference honors at the 2020 MVC Indoor Championships and landed a personal best mile time of 5:05.48 earlier in the season. Davis was runner-up in both the 800m and as a member of the distance medley relay team at the MVC Championships.  She was named a MVC Scholar-Athlete in 2019-2020 after graduating, as well as securing six additional All-MVC honors from 2016-19 in the 4x400m relay (three times), 800m (two times) and distance medley relay (one time).
 
Julianna Hirao—Pole Vault – Issaquah, Wash. – Issaquah High School
 
Hirao pole vaulted for the varsity track and field team at Issaquah High School in California.
 
Danielle Line—Throws – Stockholm, N.J. – Bucknell University
 
Line previously competed on the track and field team at Bucknell University for three seasons where she was on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.  She appeared at the Patriot League Indoor Championships in 2018 and held a personal record of 40.53m in the discus, 15.55m in the weight throw and 43.64m in the hammer throw. She is pursuing a master's degree in homeland security studies.
 
Migle Muraskaite – Sprints/Jumps – Bilnius, Lithuania – Lamar University
 
Muraskaite joins the Green Wave after lettering three years at Lamar University. She competed in the shot put, long jump, high jump, 800m, 4x400m and pentathlon during the 2020 indoor season, finishing with six top-10 finishes including four top-five finishes. Highlights of her time at Lamar include, placing sixth in the heptathlon at the 2019 Texas Relays and being named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coach's Association All-Academic Team.
 
Kristen O'Handley—Multi-Events – Honolulu, Hawai'i – Portland State
 
O'Handley joins the Green Wave following two seasons at Portland State University where was a two-time Academic All-Big Sky in 2018 and 2019 and was named to the Presidents List. She concluded her career at Portland State ranked fourth all-time in the high jump (1.69m) and pentathlon (3,595 points), sixth in the 400m (57.02) and ninth in the 60m hurdles (8.88). O'Handley also held the Hawaii state high school record in the 100m. She will pursue her master's degree in business analytics at Tulane.
 
Kate Sander—Pole Vault – Memphis, Tenn.—St. Agnes Academy
At St. Agnes Academy, Sander competed in the pole vault while also achieving academically, as she graduated summa cum laude and was a member of the National Honors Society.  Sander is a four-time New Balance Nationals qualifier, has seven state championship appearances, earned All-State honors three times, and holds one school record. 
 
Melisa Toilolo—Throws – Tracy, Calif. —Merrill F. West High School
Toilolo joins the Green Wave after attending Merrill F. West High School in California where she lettered in basketball and track and field.  She holds a school record for shot put and was awarded numerous awards for her improvement and ability in track and field. 
 
Bethwel Tum—Distance —Kapsabet, Kenya—Alliance High School
Tum comes to Tulane from Alliance High School in Kapsabet, Kenya, where he also played soccer. At Tulane, he intends to major in mechanical engineering and hopes to one day be a leading engineer in Kenya.
 
Iker Yturralde—Distance – Miami, Florida—American School of Dubai
Yturralde attended the American School of Dubai, and he achieved athletically, as captain for the cross country, track and swim team.  He was voted the Varsity Athlete of the Year twice as well as receiving the Varsity Ambassador Award.  Yturralde is a record-holder in both the 5000m and the 1500m.  He plans to major in cellular and molecular biology.
