Four Big 12 Track and Field student-athletes were named on the mid-indoor update of The Bowerman Watch List. Texas had two selections in Ackelia Smith and Leo Neugebauer while Texas Tech’s Temitope Adeshina and Terrence Jones rounded out the Conference on the prestigious watch list.

Smith earned the Big 12 ITF Athlete of the Week honor for Week 4 after her performance at the New Mexico Collegiate Classics with a nation-leading 6.85-meter leap in the long jump. She also owns six of the best marks in the event this season. This is the fourth selection on the watch list for the junior.

Neugebauer, a 2023 The Bowerman finalist, set the NCAA-leading mark of 6,219 points in his first heptathlon of the season. It was the most points amassed in the event by the senior and landed him No. 5 in the NCAA record book.

Adeshina is one of three freshmen to debut on the recent update of the watch list. She opened her season with a 1.96-meter long jump that earned her the NCAA’s top mark and a Big 12 weekly accolade. She also went undefeated in the event in January.

Jones made his first appearance this season after owning top-10 marks in the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter run. He claimed a first-place finish in the 60-meter run at the Corky Classic before winning the 200-meter at the DeLoss Dodds Invitational, his first attempt at the event this season.

Houston’s Shaun Maswanganyi and Texas’ Yusuf Bizimana received votes.
