Future Badger Tyson Jugnauth was named the British Columbia Hockey League's top defenseman for the 2021-22 season.

The incoming freshman put up nine goals and 41 assists for 50 points in 52 games during the regular season, finishing second league-wide among defensemen in points.

Jugnauth tallied five assists in the playoffs to help lead the West Kelowna Warriors to the Interior conference finals where they ultimately fell to the Penticton Vees. The Warriors finished second in the conference and third in the league for their best record since 2016.

The blue liner out of Kelowna, British Columbia, is a 2004 birth year and Jugnauth will be among the youngest skaters on the UW roster.

Jugnauth is eligible for the 2022 NHL Entry Draft and is a projected third or fourth-round selection per NHL Central Scouting. He's ranked No. 66 among North American skaters in the final pre-draft rankings.

You're not going to win every race you run. That doesn't mean you just stop running.
