Competing less than 40 miles from his hometown of Murfreesboro, redshirt sophomore Canaan Anderson took down the Tennessee school record in the indoor mile with a time of 4:00.13 on Saturday at the Vanderbilt Invitational. His mark dethroned John Wright's 4:02.4 program standard that had stood since 1977.

Oregon cross country and track and field head coach Jerry Schumacher has added to his coaching staff with Seth Henson who will continue to oversee the Ducks' combined events and vertical jumps groups. Henson, entering his sixth season at Oregon, will also coach horizontal jumps.

Billy Caldwell has been named head coach for the East Carolina cross country program, according to an announcement by Program Director Curt Kraft Monday. Caldwell will also serve as an assistant coach with the men's and women's track and field teams.
