It was a day all about offense on Sunday at Jim Patterson Stadium as the 10th-ranked University of Louisville baseball team secured an 18-15 victory over Clemson to complete the weekend sweep.

Louisville (31-12, 14-7 ACC) wraps up its eight-game homestand with a 7-1 record having scored double-digit runs in six of the eight games.

The 18 runs on Sunday were a record for runs scored by the Cardinals against an ACC opponent, surpassing the previous high of 15 done at Virginia on May 10, 2019.

Logan Beard led Louisville's offensive effort with a 4-for-5 day, driving in four and coming up just a triple shy of the cycle. Levi Usher and Dalton Rushing added three hits apiece, with Usher driving in four, scoring three times and stealing two bases.

The Cards jumped out to an early lead on Sunday, getting a two-out, two-run single from Usher in the bottom of the first to start the scoring. UofL then added four more in the second, including RBI knocks from Rushing and Cameron Masterman.

Clemson (28-17, 6-14) would score seven unanswered runs over the next three innings though, hitting a three-run homer in the third and a pair of two-runs shots in the fifth to move in front by an 8-6 margin.

As its done all season, Louisville had the answer at the plate. The Cardinals tied the game in the fifth with a two-run homer from Usher and then surged back in front on a wild pitch.

Masterman brought home the 10th run of the game in the sixth inning and Beard went the other way for a two-run home run, his fourth of the season.

The Tigers plated a run in the seventh, but the Cardinals responded with five more runs in the seventh. Rushing singled home a run in the inning and Beard doubled into the right field corner to score two more.

The Cardinals took a nine-run lead into the ninth before Clemson scored six more runs to make it a three-run contest. However, Michael Prosecky came on and retired all three batters he faced for his eighth save of the season.

Garrett Schmeltz (1-0) pitched 1.2 scoreless innings to earn his first career victory.

Louisville heads on the road for four games next week starting on Tuesday at Vanderbilt for the Battle of the Barrel. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET in Nashville.
