Behind a strong combined effort on the mound and a seven-run second inning, the Hawai'i baseball team secured a series win over Holy Cross with a 9-2 win Monday at Les Murakami Stadium.

The Rainbow Warriors (7-5) used eight different pitchers who combined to hold the Crusaders to two runs on just four hits. Zacary Tenn earned his third win of the year after throwing a scoreless fourth and fifth inning while five other UH pitchers put up zeroes in the run column in their outings.

After the Crusaders (3-7) struck first with a run in the second, the 'Bows came roaring back with a seven-spot in the bottom half. All seven UH runs in the frame came with two outs, starting with an Elijah Ickes two-run single. Austin Machado followed with an RBI double down the left field line before Matthew Miura made it 5-1 on a two-run double.

A Holy Cross error extended the inning further as Miura came in to score on a fielding error with Dallas Duarte at bat while a wild pitch allowed the final run of the frame to score.

UH added two more runs in the fifth inning when Machado singled for his second RBI of the night and Miura beat out an infield single to drive in his third run.

Miura finished a homer shy of the cycle by going 3-for-5 with three RBIs and has driven in 14 runs in the last five games. He leads the team with 19 RBIs on the year and his batting .375 with four doubles and two triples. Machado finished 3-for-5 with two RBIs and is now second on the team with a .378 batting average.

The Rainbow Warriors will open a four-game series against Rice on Friday night at 6:35 p.m. at Les Murakami Stadium.
