The University of Memphis baseball team won its series finale and rubber match of a three-game American Athletic Conference series at Tulane on Sunday afternoon, 7-5, in 10 innings at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.

The Tigers improved to 21-27 overall (8-13 AAC) with the win as the Green Wave dropped to 26-22 overall (10-11 AAC).

"I'm really proud of the group and how they continued to compete," head coach Matt Riser said. "The way we played the last two days and the resiliency and toughness we played with is what T3 is all about.

"What Jake Curtis did for us all weekend long as a leader at shortstop, in the box and on the mound was awesome. What Brayden Sanders did at the end there was huge, and then we got the big hit from Riley Davis off the bench in the 10th and then the home run from Pierre [Seals]."

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Tigers had the offense rolling early and jumped out to a 5-0 lead on the Green Wave. With two outs in the top of the third inning, Austin Baskin singled back up the middle to score Curtis to put Memphis on the board. Jacob Compton followed that up with a two-out knock that drove in Baskin and allowed Daunte Stuart to come in and score on an errant throw by Tulane center fielder Teo Banks.
• In the top of the fourth, Brennan DuBose laced an RBI single back up the middle to drive in Seth Cox – again with two outs – to give the Tigers a 4-0 advantage.
• Memphis added a run in the fifth on a solo shot off the bat of Stuart – his seventh of the season – as it carried 396 feet and left the bat at 107 miles-per-hour to put the Tigers up 5-0.
• Tulane got its first run in the bottom of the fifth on a solo home run by Jackson Linn and added on two more in the frame on a bases-loaded hit batsmen and a sacrifice fly to make the score 5-3, Memphis.
• In the eighth, Tulane's Colin Tuft hit a solo home run to trim the Memphis lead to a run.
• The Green Wave loaded the bases with nobody out in the ninth inning and tied the game when a run scored on a double play turned by the Tigers. Sanders got the next man he faced to pop up to Curtis at shortstop, sending the game to extra innings.
• In the top of the 10th, Riley Davis hit the first pitch of the inning off the left-center field wall for a leadoff double. Pierre Seals came to the plate and hammered an 0-2 pitch 430 feet to deep left-center field to put the Tigers back in front, 7-5.
• Sanders came back out for the bottom of the 10th and got a pair of fly outs to center field and a punch out to seal the Tiger victory.

NOTABLES
• Sanders earned the win to improve to 2-3 on the season after throwing two hitless innings of relief in the ninth and 10th.
• Stuart had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a home run, a pair of runs scored and an RBI.
• Seals ended the game 2-for-5 with the game-winning, two-run home run in the 10th.
• Curtis did a little bit of everything in the win; he threw three crucial innings of relief (2 ER, 4 H, 2 K), recorded a hit and scored a run, and made some great defensive plays at shortstop.
• Baskin, DuBose and Compton all recorded a hit and an RBI in the win. Baskin scored a run and DuBose stole a base.
• Davis went 1-for-1 with a double off the bench and scored a run. Tyler Heckert also recorded a hit in his lone plate appearance.
