(BCSNN) — Nebraska held a two‑run lead through five innings, but No. 15 Louisville capitalized on a pair of late scoring opportunities to rally past the Huskers 4–2 on Friday afternoon at the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series at Globe Life Field.

Nebraska (3–2) matched Louisville with eight hits and committed one error, but four unanswered runs in the sixth and seventh innings swung the game in the Cardinals’ favor. Louisville (3–2) used a three‑run sixth inning — aided by an NU throwing error — to take its first lead and added a solo home run in the seventh to secure the win.

Dylan Carey led the Huskers, going 3‑for‑4 with a double, home run and an RBI. With his three hits, Carey became the first Nebraska player since at least 2000 to record multiple hits in each of the first five games of a season.

Will Jesske doubled, while Jett Buck, Joshua Overbeek, Cole Kitchens and Max Buettenback each added a hit.

Ty Horn delivered five strong innings, allowing one run on five hits with five strikeouts and two walks. Caleb Clark (1–1) took the loss after surrendering two unearned runs in the sixth. Ryan Harrahill worked the final 2.2 innings, giving up one run on two hits with two strikeouts.

Nebraska broke through in the third inning when consecutive two‑out singles by Overbeek and Carey set up an RBI single from Kitchens. Carey extended the lead to 2–0 in the fifth with a two‑out solo homer to right.

Louisville answered in the sixth with a double and walk to open the inning. A throwing error on a potential double‑play ball brought home the Cardinals’ first run, and after two popouts, a two‑out ground‑rule double to right scored two more to put Louisville ahead 3–2. The Cardinals added a two‑out solo homer in the seventh to make it 4–2.

Nebraska was retired in order in the ninth as Louisville closed out the win.

The Huskers continue play in the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series on Saturday night against Kansas State. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
