Sophomore outfielder Derrick Pitts lifted a two-out, two-run homer in the top of the ninth for the lead, then gave Cincinnati the win in the 11th on a hustle double to sweep Houston in a 4-3 Sunday finale.

The Bearcats (32-17, 13-11 Big 12) have won four-straight league series, and it was their fifth Big 12 sweep since joining the league in 2024. The six runs allowed in the series (3-2 and 8-1 in the Saturday doubleheader wins) matched the TCU sweep in 2024 for the fewest allowed in a weekend of the three-year Jordan Bischel era.

Pitts' towering, 375-foot shot to left-center in the ninth scored Jackson Smith, who worked a full-count walk to lead it off.

Houston tied it in the ninth despite only one ball marginally reaching the outfield. A walk, very shallow bloop single and wild pitch put the tying run in scoring position with one out. A perfect squeeze bunt, which included a really nice play by UC relief ace Adam Buczkowski, was enough to score both in the sequence.

The 11th inning was deja vu for Cincinnati in two ways. It again featured a leadoff walk (Ryan Tyranski), followed by another to Quinton Coats. Pitts showed bunt early, then pulled back to slash a slow chopper to no-man's-land at shortstop and plate Tyranski.

Freshman Chad Brown, who entered it in the 10th, threw his second scoreless inning to improve to 4-0 on the year.

Cincinnati certainly had its chances to blow it open early, stranding 11 runners through the first five innings. It included a bases-loaded, no-out opportunity in the third, ending on Christian Mitchelle's driving shot to center field and miraculous catch at the wall.

Logan Knight, normally the Saturday starter, got the Sunday nod after leaving the West Virginia game early last week. He was crisp in his 4 1/3 scoreless innings, which included 10 consecutive batters from the second-through-fourth innings with a first-pitch strike.

The Bearcats will remain on the road for Oral Roberts on Tuesday night, their final non-conference contest of the year.
