AUSTIN, Texas — No. 6 Texas advanced to the Men's College World Series for the 39th time in program history by defeating No. 11 Oregon, 6-5, at UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Sunday night.
Adrian Rodriguez delivered the game-winning two-run double in the eighth and Sam Cozart set down the final six batters to send the Longhorns (45-13) to Omaha for the first time in four years.
With the victory, skipper Jim Schlossnagle became one of only four coaches to guide three different schools — TCU, Texas A&M and Texas — to the College World Series.
Schlossnagle's clubs have played in Omaha on eight occasions in the last 16 years, including a nation's best seven trips since 2014.
While homegrown standouts Rodriguez and Cozart (9) closed out the Ducks (43-18), transfers Aiden Robbins and Carson Tinney set the tone from the onset.
Robbins and Tinney mounted back-to-back home runs to lead off the top of the first.
Robbins rocketed his 24th homer of the year, matching Kody Clemens (2018) for the third-most by a Texas player in a single season.
Two pitches later, Tinney tattooed a 418-foot shot off the right-center field scoreboard to double the early advantage. The junior's 110-mph rocket marked his 22nd of the campaign.
In the next inning, Robbins and Tinney both added two-out RBI to balloon the Longhorns' cushion to 4-0.
Oregon responded with five unanswered runs to pull in front after seven frames, but Rodriguez's eighth-inning swing proved to be the difference. Across the two-game super regional, the sophomore totaled a team-best .500 average and seven RBI.
Cozart anchored a Texas bullpen that held Oregon to just one baserunner over the last 3 1/3 innings.
Thomas Burns (2-0) earned the victory, following a scoreless frame in relief. Burns punched out two Ducks after entering with the go-ahead run 90 feet away.
Oregon closer Devin Bell (2-7) was charged with the loss. Bell allowed four of the eight batters he faced to reach safely, highlighted by Rodriguez's go-ahead strike.
The Longhorns completed their 2026 home slate with a 34-4 ledger, their most wins in Austin since 2011.
When Texas makes its return to the College World Series, the Longhorns are set for face No. 3 Georgia. The Longhorns' quest for a seventh national title in Omaha will begin on Friday or Saturday at a time to be determined.
