Wichita State University freshman right-handed pitcher Jace Kaminska earned his fifth Freshman All-American honor of the 2021 season as he was tabbed a First Team Freshman All-American by D1Baseball.com.
A native of Caney, Kan., Kaminska also garnered Freshman All-American accolades from Baseball America, Perfect Game, the NCBWA and Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.
The American Athletic Conference Newcomer Pitcher of the Year and an All-Conference First Team selection, Kaminska the Shockers on the mound during the 2021 season, posting a 2.32 ERA and 8-1 record in 12 appearances and 10 starts.
He threw two complete games and gave up just 16 earned runs on 51 hits with 51 strikeouts and only 19 walks in 62 innings of work.
Kaminska's 2.32 ERA ranked second in The American and 30th in all of NCAA Division I baseball, while his eight victories was also second in the conference in 2021.
Wichita State baseball tallied a 31-23 overall record and placed third in the American Athletic Conference with an 18-13 mark in 2021 under second season head coach Eric Wedge. The third-place finish and 18 conference wins are both program records since the Shockers joined the AAC prior to the 2018 season.
