After what could only be described as a roller coaster season in Austin, the University of Texas has announced that Rodney Terry is the new head coach of Longhorns men's basketball.

It took some work after Chris Beard was fired mid-season for allegedly choking his fiance. Now, all Beard had to do to get another job (Ole Miss) was get his fiance to recognize the possible end of her meal ticket and not press charges. Meanwhile, Terry had to hold together a sinking ship, and somehow steer it all the way to the Elite Eight - all while racking up a bevy of accolades from national media outlets on the way.

Now, there are sure to be some boosters a little unhappy with the hire. Not saying it's the same ones that wanted Charlie Strong or Shaka Smart gone before they ever coached a game, but let's not act like anyone's ignorant to the ... "feelings" some Texas boosters carry.

Anyway, let's go ahead and take a look at the impressive resume that Texas Head Coach Rodney Terry has put together over such a short span.

What They're Saying

Rodney has done an unbelievable job. He inherited a tough situation. The league was super competitive -- he wins the Big 12 Tournament, and a Sweet 16 appearance is impressive.

Mark Few, Gonzaga Head Coach

Rodney has done a tremendous job. For him to slide over and the way he's handled it with an older group of guys, I'm not sure anyone else in the country could have done it any better.

Rick Barnes, Tennessee Head Coach

When Rodney had to step into his role, he had to command the respect of his players first. They bought into whatever he said, whatever he did, hook, line, and sinker. They are an outstanding team. They’ve played very hard and very well together at both ends of the court.

Jim Larranaga, Miami Head Coach
