The No. 5 Fighting Illini men's basketball team fell to Michigan State 81-72 Thursday night at the Breslin Events Center.

The Illini were led by senior Trent Frazier's' 22 points and Ayo Dosunmu's 17 point and nine rebounds. Kofi Cockburn tallied 13 points and six rebounds, and freshman Andre Curbelo added 12 points on the night for the Illini.

The Orange and Blue got off to a slow start in the game, shooting just 24 percent from the field in the first half. Despite trimming the lead down to nine with 4:02 left in the second half, the Michigan State offense was too much for the Illini to handle and the Spartans took the league win.
