Temple University men's basketball head coach Adam Fisher announced the signing of Manhattan transfer guard Masiah Gilyard on Saturday morning. Gilyard has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

The 6-foot-3 guard started all 31 games for Manhattan last season. He averaged 11.2 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists while shooting an efficient 49.8 percent from the field in his lone season in Riverdale, N.Y. He made at least half of his attempts from the floor in 19 of his 31 games. His 109 offensive rebounds led all guards nationally in 2024-25.

"Masiah plays with toughness and energy," said Fisher. "He has the ability to impact the game in so many ways — scoring, rebounding, defending — which makes him a great fit for our program. Masiah was the leading offensive rebounder in the country at the guard position, which we feel will be a major addition to our team next season. We're excited to see his game continue to develop at Temple, and we welcome him and his family to our program."

Gilyard reached double figures in 18 games at Manhattan, including a pair of season-high 21-point performances against Fairfield and Sacred Heart. Always active on the glass as the Jaspers' leading rebounder, he totaled 13 games with at least eight rebounds, including four double-double performances as a guard. He ranked sixth in the MAAC in rebounds per game and second in the conference in offensive rebounds per contest.

Defensively, Gilyard ranked second on the team in steals and third in blocks.

"I committed to Temple because it felt like the right fit, both on and off the court," said Gilyard. "The coaching staff showed genuine belief in me, and I saw an opportunity to grow as a player while contributing to a program with a strong history. Plus, being in Philly means playing in a city that lives and breathes basketball."

Prior to enrolling at Manhattan, Gilyard spent two years at Blinn College in Brenham, Texas. While playing at the junior college level, he averaged 11.2 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists across his freshman and sophomore campaigns.

As a sophomore, he upped his scoring average from 8.4 points per game to 13.4, while shooting above 50 percent from the field and from beyond the arc. Gilyard averaged nearly eight rebounds per game, totaled at least 20 points in six contests and recorded eight double-doubles for the Buccaneers during the 2023-24 season.

Gilyard is the third transfer to sign with the Owls this week, joining Jamai Felt (Boston, Mass./Bowling Green) and Gavin Griffiths (Simsbury, Conn./Nebraska). Incoming freshman Cam Wallace (Philadelphia, Pa./Westtown) joins the trio of transfers as newcomers on the 2025-26 roster.
