Mark H. Carter and Family Vanderbilt Men’s Basketball Head Coach Mark Byington announced the addition of Washington transfer Tyler Harris to the Commodores roster.
A 6-foot-8 guard from Hayward, California, Harris arrives at Vanderbilt as a junior in 2025-26. He spent the past season at Washington where he averaged 11.8 points and 5.0 rebounds in 30 games for the Huskies.
“Tyler has shown great things already in college, but it is exciting to know he can take off to another level,” said Byington. “He is an unconventional 6-foot-8 who can be used as a guard or can take advantage of mismatches at other positions. Tyler’s skill set and versatility make it easy to play him with our other guys because I can move him anywhere and he can make impactful plays. Vandy fans will love his competitiveness and will to win.”
At Washington, Harris showcased pinpoint accuracy from three-point range, shooting 49.5 percent on 91 attempts in 2024-25 to lead the Huskies. He ranked second on the team in overall field goal percentage, shooting at a 49.2 percent clip.
The sophomore racked up 18 games in double figures, including four outings with 20 or more points. He scored a season-high 27 against Alcorn and followed with 24 points against NCAA Tournament participant Colorado State. Harris posted two double-doubles on the season, a 12-point, 11-rebound effort against UCLA and a 14-point, 11-board performance against Nebraska.
Harris was also impactful on the defensive end, leading Washington with 32 blocks on the season. He posted six games with multiple blocks including four with three or more rejections. Harris ranked third on the Huskies’ squad with 28 steals in 2024-25.
Prior to his season at Washington, Harris began his collegiate career at Portland in 2023-24. He earned All-WCC Freshman Team honors in his lone season with the Pilots, averaging 12.1 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. Harris shot 46 percent from the field and recorded 13 games in double figures.
Harris played his senior season of high school basketball at Granada and led the program to its first California Interscholastic Federation NorCal championship. He was also part of the program’s runner-up finish in the State Division I Championships.
