The University of Memphis men's basketball program has added another major piece to its frontcourt, announcing the signing of 7-foot-1 South Sudanese center Simon Majok for the 2025-26 season under head coach Penny Hardaway.

Majok brings elite size, upside and international experience to the Tigers after spending the past three seasons developing in the Serbian professional system with KK Real Beograd, which competes in the Serbian Prva Muška Regionalna Liga. Known for his rim protection, rebounding and growing offensive skill set, Majok is expected to be a force in the paint for Memphis.

Though limited to just seven games in 2024-25 due to Serbia's age restriction rule — which prohibits players from competing in youth leagues after turning 18 — Majok made the most of his time on the court. He led the league with a Performance Index Rating (PIR) of 26.7 per game and ranked as Serbia's top overall player with a total PIR of 187, seven points ahead of the next closest competitor.

In seven appearances last season, Majok averaged 17.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.6 blocks, 1.9 assists, and 1.3 steals over 30.7 minutes per game, while shooting an efficient 66.7 percent from two-point range (48-of-72).
His 48 made field goals led the league through seven games and he produced four double-doubles and three 20-point games, helping Real Beograd to a 6-1 record with him in the lineup. Without Majok, the team went 11-8 to finish the season.

His best performance came in a November showdown against BKK Radnicki, where Majok delivered 27 points, 12 rebounds and six blocks, while shooting 13-of-17 from the floor for a game-high 43 PIR.

Majok also starred for Real Beograd's U17 and U19 teams, leading both squads to third-place finishes in 2022-23 and 2023-24, earning MVP honors in both seasons.

Majok joins a long line of elite big men developed under Coach Hardaway, as Memphis continues to build on its reputation as a destination for frontcourt talent.

Majok is the 13th player Hardaway has signed to the 2025 recruiting class, joining Daniel Vieira-Tuck (Overtime Elite), Quante Berry (Temple), Dug McDaniel (Kansas State), Aaron Bradshaw (Ohio State), Julius Thedford (Western Kentucky), Ashton Hardaway (Saint Mary's), Zachary Davis (South Carolina), Sincere Parker (McNeese State), Hasan Abdul Hakim (UTRGV), Mason Matthews (Lane College), Curtis Givens III (LSU) and William Whorton (South Dakota State).
