The UNLV men's basketball program has received a signed commitment from Walter Brown to join the Runnin' Rebels for the 2025-26 season, head coach Josh Pastner announced.

Brown, a 6-foot-5-inch, 210-pound small forward from Christchurch, New Zealand, has played for the Canterbury Rams of the National Basketball League of New Zealand for the past five years. He will be a senior at UNLV this season.

During the 2025 season, he averaged 13.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.3 steals per game for the Rams, while shooting 48.1% from the field and 33.3% on 3-pointers.

Brown has played for two NZNBL championship teams and also won a title in the Australian NBL. He was named the 2023 NZNBL Youth Player of the Year and also spent time as a development player with the Tasmania JackJumpers of the Australian NBL in 2023, 2024, and 2025.

"We are excited for Walter to join the Runnin' Rebel program," Pastner said. "He is a versatile, gritty wing with offensive skill and is a proven winner that has a knack for making winning plays. He is an exceptional teammate and a great addition to the UNLV family."
