UTSA men’s basketball coach Austin Claunch has announced that the Roadrunners have one final member of the 2025-26 squad suiting up in San Antonio, as international forward Mathéo Coffi joined UTSA this semester to complete the Roadrunners’ roster for Claunch’s second season at the helm.
“Mathéo is a long, rangy forward with the skill set to defend 1-5 and is a playmaker all over the floor,” Claunch said. “He’s been successful in the European system, has a high basketball IQ and he’s hungry to compete at this level. We expect him to be a championship-level contributor on a championship-level team.”
Hailing from Strasbourg, France, Coffi is a graduate of Lycée Marc Bloch. A 6-foot-8, 210-pound forward, Coffi began playing for SIG Strasbourg in 2020 with its Espoirs squad. Over the past two years, he’s joined the U21 team in French Ligue Nationale de Basket (LNB) Betclic Élite (ProA), the top basketball league in France. In 2024-25, Coffi appeared in 29 games, averaging 10.9 points on 57.6 percent shooting. He added 6.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 21.8 minutes per game. He scored in double figures 18 times, including four double-doubles. In 2023-24 during his first year in U21 ProA, he averaged 8.3 mpg, 5.2 rpg, 1.1 spg and 1.1 assists, shooting 53.6 percent from the floor.
In 2023, he helped his squad earn U18 Vice Champion of France honors and helped lead the 2024-25 Strasbourg team in reaching the final four of the U21 French Championships.
