(BCSNN) - Trevon Brazile scored 21 points and freshman Darius Acuff Jr. delivered a double-double as No. 25 Arkansas defeated No. 6 Louisville, 89–80, Wednesday night at Bud Walton Arena in the third annual ACC/SEC Challenge.

Brazile set the tone early, scoring 12 of the Razorbacks’ first 19 points and finishing with 17 in the first half. Acuff closed strong, scoring nine of Arkansas’ final 15 points while adding 10 assists, becoming the first Razorback freshman since 1991–92 to record double-digit assists against a ranked opponent.

Arkansas (3–0 in the ACC/SEC Challenge) never trailed, building an 18-point halftime lead. Louisville (7–1) rallied behind hot perimeter shooting, cutting the deficit to five three times in the second half. Each time, Arkansas responded — highlighted by Brazile’s alley-oop dunk and Acuff’s layup during a decisive 6–0 run that sealed the victory.

Five Razorbacks scored in double figures. Meleek Thomas added 17 points, Malique Ewin posted 12 points and nine rebounds, and Billy Richmond III chipped in 10 points. Arkansas dominated the glass, out-rebounding Louisville 46–35, despite the Cardinals entering the game ranked fifth nationally in rebounds per game.

Louisville, which came in second nationally in three-pointers made per game, struggled from deep, hitting just 8-of-37. Mikel Brown Jr. led the Cardinals with 22 points, while Ryan Conwell scored 15, Sananda Fru added 14, and Isaac McKinney had 11.

Arkansas converted 27-of-35 free throws compared to Louisville’s 14-of-18, a key factor in the win. The Razorbacks also held Louisville without a double-figure scorer in the first half while building their cushion.

The victory gave Arkansas a 5–4 edge in the all-time series with Louisville. Head coach John Calipari improved to 20–8 against the Cardinals and earned his 883rd career win, moving 17 shy of 900.

Up next, Arkansas travels to North Little Rock to face Fresno State on Saturday at Simmons Bank Arena. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. CT.
