(BCSNN) — No. 1 Arizona used a strong second half to defeat Arizona State 87-74 on Friday afternoon at Desert Financial Arena, remaining unbeaten and setting a program record with a 22-0 start. The Wildcats (22-0, 9-0 Big 12) surpassed the 21-0 mark set by the 2013-14 team.

After a 38-38 halftime tie, Arizona shot 60 percent in the second half and outscored the Sun Devils 49-36, relying on interior scoring, defensive pressure and efficient ball movement to take control.

Freshman Koa Peat led Arizona with 21 points on 9‑for‑16 shooting and added four assists. Motiejus Krivas scored 15 points on 6‑of‑10 shooting, Brayden Burries added 17 points and seven rebounds, and Ivan Kharchenkov finished with 12. Jaden Bradley contributed 10 points, six assists and four steals.

Arizona dominated the paint with a 50-20 scoring advantage and a 47-32 rebounding edge. Tobe Awaka grabbed 13 rebounds, helping the Wildcats produce 16 second‑chance points.

Arizona State (11-11, 2-7) was led by Noah Meeusen with 16 points and Maurice Odum with 15. The Sun Devils shot 41.5 percent from the field and 60 percent at the line while committing 18 fouls and 21 turnovers.

Arizona built its largest lead — 20 points — in the final minutes, fueled by stops and transition baskets. The win completed a season sweep of Arizona State and moved the Wildcats to 5-0 on the road against the Sun Devils under head coach Tommy Lloyd.
