(BCSNN) — Arizona State delivered one of its strongest rebounding performances of the season, defeating Oklahoma State 85–76 on Saturday to earn its fourth Big 12 win. The Sun Devils (13–12, 4–8) controlled the game for more than 35 minutes and out‑rebounded the Cowboys 45–34, a margin that proved decisive.
ASU shot 28‑for‑35 from the free‑throw line, including 19‑for‑21 in the second half, and held sizable advantages in points off turnovers (26–13), second‑chance points (24–4), bench scoring (28–17) and points in the paint (38–26). The Sun Devils improved to 10–2 when scoring at least 80 points.
Six Sun Devils scored in double figures for the first time this season. Freshman center Massamba Diop led with 17 points, seven rebounds and three blocks. Redshirt sophomore forward Santiago Trouet added 16 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth double‑double. Noah Meeusen contributed 12 points, five assists, three steals and four rebounds. Moe Odum (13), Andrija Grbovic (11) and Pig Johnson (10) rounded out the balanced scoring.
Head coach Bobby Hurley challenged his team to rebound more effectively, and ASU responded with 19 offensive boards. The Sun Devils are now 5–0 when collecting at least 40 rebounds and 8–1 when out‑rebounding their opponent.
Oklahoma State (16–8, 4–7) entered averaging 84.8 points per game but was held to 76, more than eight points below its season average. The Cowboys are now 0–8 this season when scoring fewer than 81 points.
Arizona State led 36–30 at halftime and extended the margin throughout the second half by attacking the paint and capitalizing on turnovers. The Sun Devils made only five three‑pointers but consistently generated high‑percentage looks inside.
