(BCSNN) — Senior guard Ryan Conwell scored 16 points, including the final five of the game, to lead Louisville to a 62–58 win over SMU in the second round of the ACC Championship on Wednesday afternoon at the Spectrum Center.

The victory sends the Cardinals (23–9) to Thursday’s quarterfinal matchup against No. 3 seed Miami at 2:30 p.m. on ESPN2.

The game featured 16 lead changes and nine ties before Louisville closed on a decisive 6–0 run. Trailing 58–56 with 2:43 remaining, the Cardinals tied the game on a free throw from Vangelis Zougris, then took the lead for good on Conwell’s three‑pointer with 1:17 left. Conwell added a driving layup with 29 seconds remaining to seal the win.

Conwell shot 6‑for‑15 with two threes, while Adrian Wooley added 14 points, going 7‑for‑8 at the line, with six rebounds and two assists. Isaac McKneely scored 10 points, grabbed a career‑high seven rebounds and tied his season high with five assists.

Louisville led 26–20 late in the first half before SMU closed with a 6–0 run to tie the game at 26–26 at halftime. The Cardinals shot 30 percent in the opening period but forced nine turnovers, converting them into 12 points.

SMU (20–13) opened the second half with a jumper from Boopie Miller and later built its largest lead at 41–35. Louisville responded with a 9–2 run powered by three straight baskets from Zougris to regain the lead at 52–50. The Mustangs held a 58–56 edge entering the final minutes before Louisville’s closing surge.

Louisville shot 40 percent overall, 23 percent from three and 70 percent at the line, while SMU shot 43 percent and held a 34–32 rebounding advantage. Jaron Pierre Jr. led all scorers with 17 points for the Mustangs.
