(BCSNN) — Alabama men’s basketball coach Nate Oats has agreed to a raise and contract extension that will keep him leading the Crimson Tide through the 2032 season, the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees Compensation Committee announced.

Oats, who has transformed Alabama into one of the nation’s most consistent winners over his seven seasons, said he is “blessed and honored” to continue guiding the program.

“President Mohler, Chancellor Trant, the entire Board of Trustees and Greg Byrne have been tremendously supportive,” Oats said. “We have enjoyed tremendous success during our seven years at Alabama, and we look forward to building on that for many years to come.”

Since arriving in Tuscaloosa, Oats has compiled a 170–73 record (.700), winning two SEC regular‑season titles, two SEC Tournament championships, and reaching the NCAA Sweet 16 five times. In 2025, he led Alabama to the first Final Four appearance in program history.

Athletic director Greg Byrne praised Oats’ leadership and long‑term vision.

“Coach Oats has done an incredible job with our men’s basketball team,” Byrne said. “We appreciate his commitment to Alabama and look forward to continued success under his leadership.”

The 2025–26 season added to Oats’ résumé. Alabama finished 25–10, including 13–5 in SEC play, marking the program’s fourth straight 25‑win season — a first in school history. The Tide ended the year ranked No. 16 in the AP Top 25, the program’s fourth consecutive season finishing inside the poll, something Alabama had not achieved since 1989–92.

Off the court, Oats’ teams have excelled academically. Alabama has consistently posted a team GPA above 3.00, including a program‑record 3.57 GPA in fall 2024. The Tide also maintain a 100 percent graduation success rate among players who exhaust their eligibility.

With the extension finalized, Alabama continues its commitment to a coach who has elevated the program into a perennial SEC and national contender.
