(BCSNN) — Cal men’s basketball continued its offseason roster build with the addition of Georgia transfer Jake Wilkins, head coach Mark Madsen announced Thursday. The 6‑foot‑9 forward becomes another key piece for a Golden Bears program coming off its winningest season in nearly a decade.
Wilkins, the son of NBA Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins, played in 32 games as a freshman at Georgia, scoring in double figures five times. He averaged 4.9 points and 1.9 rebounds, highlighted by standout performances against Florida A&M and Maryland Eastern Shore — the latter featuring a windmill dunk that landed on SportsCenter’s Top 10.
“Jake is one of the most exciting players in the portal,” Madsen said. “His combination of length, athleticism and skill make him a force on both ends of the floor. He has one of the highest ceilings of any player in college basketball.”
A former top‑35 national recruit, Wilkins starred at Grayson High School in Georgia, helping lead the program to the 2024 Class 7A state championship. He scored 16 points with eight rebounds in the 2025 Iverson Classic All‑American Game and competed in the 2024 NBPA Top‑100 Camp, further cementing his status as one of the nation’s most promising young forwards.
Wilkins also impressed on the AAU circuit with strong showings that showcased his versatility and athletic upside.
He joins a Cal program that made significant strides in 2025–26, winning 22 games — the most since 2016 — and earning its first postseason victory since 2014. The Bears also posted eight 90‑point games and placed five players in top‑100 national statistical categories, signaling a sharp rise under Madsen’s leadership.
Wilkins is expected to compete immediately for rotation minutes as Cal continues its transition into a more athletic, fast‑paced, and offensively dynamic team.
