University of Minnesota men's basketball coach Niko Medved has announced that Winters Grady (Tualatin, Ore.) will join the Golden Gopher program in June. Grady is coming to Minnesota after spending his freshman year at Michigan.

"Winters is an elite shooter who just has a knack for scoring the ball," Medved said. "He is a tough, confident athlete that can shoot from deep and with range. Winters has great size and can impact the game on both sides of the ball. A former top-100 recruit, he is a three-level scorer and also came from a winning program last year. We're looking forward to him being a Gopher."

Grady, a 6-foot, 6-inch guard, played his freshman season at Michigan, where he saw action in nine games off the bench. He averaged 6 minutes, 2.9 points and 1.1 rebounds during his rookie campaign. Grady made his collegiate debut vs. Middle Tennessee and a career-best six points vs. Rutgers.

Prior to his collegiate career, Grady was a top 100, four-star recruit that played his final two seasons at Prolific Prep (Calif.) that reached the Chipotle Nationals both seasons he was there. In his senior campaign, Grady averaged 17 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists, helping Prolific to a 35-6 record. As a junior, he also averaged 12 points, as Prolific went 34-6. In his sophomore season with Lake Oswego High School, Grady averaged 31 points, eight rebounds and two assists. Grady was an all-state second team honoree that season and an honorable mention as a freshman.
