San José State head coach Tim Miles announced that Luke Howard, a 6‑foot‑9 forward from Simon Fraser University, will join the Spartans for the 2026–27 season.
Howard, who is from Abbotsford, Canada, arrives as a senior after redshirting last season and brings experience from multiple programs across his college career. “Luke is an experienced and athletic forward,” Miles said. “He has a versatile skill set which really fits our style of play. We are excited to add Luke to our program.”
Howard averaged 16.7 points and 6.1 rebounds while shooting 41.7% from three and 48.4% from the field in 24 games at Simon Fraser in 2024–25, earning GNAC All‑Conference Honorable Mention. Before that, he played at Northwest University in 2023–24, where he was named first‑team all‑conference and averaged 19.2 points and 7.8 rebounds. His earlier stops included Lipscomb and Biola, and he previously played high school basketball at Harding Academy in Memphis — where he scored 1,350 points in two seasons and was a Tennessee Mr. Basketball finalist — as well as Abbotsford Senior High School in British Columbia. His sister, Emily Howard, played collegiately at Liberty and Boise State.
