The Coastal Carolina football team (7-1, 4-1 Sun Belt) will return home to Brooks Stadium to host the Appalachian State Mountaineers (5-3, 2-2 Sun Belt) for a "Black Out" on Thursday night, Nov. 3, at 7:30 p.m. ET. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN and carried on the radio at WRNN Hot Talk 99.5 FM.

RECEIVING VOTES

Coastal Carolina received votes in both the Associated Press Top 25 and USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches polls this week. The Chants picked up 25 votes in the USA TODAY Sports AVCA Coaches Poll and eight votes in the AP Top 25 Poll.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS

  • Picked to win the Sun Belt Conference East Division in the 2022 Sun Belt Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, the Mountaineers are 5-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play this year.
  • The Mountaineers, who are 1-1 in true road games this season entering Thursday night's contest at Coastal Carolina, have won each of their last two games, both of which have come at home in Boone, N.C.
  • App State's offense is averaging 36.9 points and 459.6 total offensive yards per game this season, which both rank in the top three in the Sun Belt Conference.
  • The offense has done it with a balanced attack, as App State is second in the Sun Belt at 208.2 rushing yards per game and seventh in passing yards per contest at 251.4, both of which rank in the top 60 in all of NCAA FBS football.
  • Veteran quarterback Chase Brice leads the App State offense, as he has completed 64.9 percent of his pass attempts (155-of-239) for a league-leading 22 touchdowns and 1,921 yards.
  • The rushing attack is once again led by the three-headed monster of Camerun Peoples (86 att., 551 yards, 5 TDs), Nate Noel (45 att., 306 yards, 3 TDs), and Daetrich Harrington (54 att., 266 yards, TD).
  • The defense is one of the best in the Sun Belt once again this season, as the Mountaineers are holding opponents to just 308.5 total yards of offense per game.
  • Led by preseason All-Sun Belt pick Steven Jones Jr., App State's defense is allowing just 179.4 passing yards per game, which leads the Sun Belt.

CCU's home contest on Saturday, Nov. 12, has also been picked up for a national TV audience, as the game will be broadcasted live on ESPNU. With Thursday night's contest versus App State (Nov. 3) being broadcasted live on ESPN, the Chanticleers, better known as #AmericasTeam, will have had a total of 20 games nationally televised since the start of the 2020 season. Over those previously 19 nationally-televised contests, the Chanticleers are 16-3 overall, with one of those losses coming at Appalachian State (Oct. 20, 2021) last year in Boone, N.C.

The Chants will be playing for the second time on Thursday night this season versus App State (Nov. 3), having played at Georgia State on Sept. 22. Coastal is 6-3 all-time in Thursday night contests, having won each of its last four games on Thursdays, all of which have come over the last two years
