Alabama was in need of a new kicker and the Crimson Tide ended up landing the best one in the country through the NCAA Transfer Portal. The Crimson Tide are getting the nation's most recent winner of the Lou Groza Award in Graham Nicholson.

Nicholson won the award following a stellar performance this past season for Miami. Unfortunately for the RedHawks, the kicker announced his plans on social media to leave the MAC school and transfer to Alabama.

Arriving at Tuscaloosa, Nicholson will be tasked with replacing Will Reichard, who was also a finalist for the Lou Groza Award this past season.

Alabama's new kicker made 27 of 28 field goal attempts last season, good enough for the third-best field goal percentage among all kickers who had more than one attempt. Nicholson also made 10 of 11 field goals of 40 yards or more, with his longest being 52 yards.

An all-around kicking specialist, Nicholson also recorded 73 kickoffs this past season, 52 of which resulted in a touchback.

One thing is sure about Kalen DeBoer, the new head coach of Alabama Football knows how to use transfer portal, with 10 total transfers arriving this offseason. The incoming group features former Texas A&M defensive lineman LT Overton, former Michigan safety Keon Sabb and four former Washington Huskies players in offensive lineman Parker Brailsford, quarterback Austin Mack, receiver Germie Bernard and tight end Josh Cuevas.

Nicholson will begin the 2024 campaign as a senior.
