(BCSNN) — Four-star running back Javian Osborne has committed to Notre Dame, choosing the Fighting Irish over Michigan in a closely contested recruiting battle. Osborne, ranked as the No. 8 running back in the 2026 class, announced his decision Saturday evening, citing Notre Dame’s football tradition and academic prestige as key factors.
The 5-foot-10, 200-pound prospect from Forney, Texas, had offers from several top programs, including Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, and USC. Michigan was considered the favorite after Osborne eliminated Texas from contention, but Notre Dame’s coaching staff, led by running backs coach Ja’Juan Seider, made a strong impression during his spring visit.
Osborne’s commitment strengthens Notre Dame’s 2026 recruiting class, which now ranks among the top 15 nationally. His combination of speed, vision, and physicality makes him a valuable addition to the Irish backfield, as head coach Marcus Freeman continues to build a competitive roster for the future.
