(BCSNN) — Jared Curtis, the No. 1 quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class, has committed to Georgia, choosing the Bulldogs over Oregon in a highly contested recruiting battle. Curtis, a five-star prospect from Nashville Christian School in Tennessee, announced his decision, reaffirming his commitment to Georgia after briefly reopening his recruitment last fall.
Curtis initially committed to Georgia in March 2024 but decommitted in October to explore other options. His recruitment drew interest from several top programs, including Alabama, Ohio State, Auburn, and South Carolina, before ultimately narrowing his choices to Georgia and Oregon. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound quarterback made official visits to both schools in March before deciding to return to the Bulldogs.
A polished passer with elite arm talent, Curtis has been one of the most sought-after recruits in the country. He completed 70.2% of his passes for 2,830 yards and 40 touchdowns during his junior season, throwing just three interceptions. He also showcased his mobility, rushing for 637 yards and 18 touchdowns, leading Nashville Christian to a 12-1 record and a Tennessee Division II-A state championship.
Georgia head coach Kirby Smart and offensive coordinator Mike Bobo played a pivotal role in securing Curtis’ commitment. Curtis praised the Bulldogs’ coaching staff and offensive system, noting their ability to develop quarterbacks and maintain a disciplined program. His commitment marks Georgia’s first five-star quarterback recruit since Justin Fields in 2018 and headlines a 2026 class that was previously ranked No. 26 nationally.
With Curtis on board, Georgia strengthens its future at the quarterback position, adding a player with both a high floor and ceiling. His refined mechanics, accuracy, and ability to read defenses make him a potential multi-year starter for the Bulldogs. As Georgia looks to reclaim its dominance in the SEC, Curtis is expected to be a cornerstone of the program’s offensive success in the coming years.
