In coordination with the Big 12 Conference and network partners, three 2025 Houston Football game TV network designations and two kick times were announced on Thursday with the Cougars Big 12 home opener against Colorado headlining the announcement.
Houston is set to open Year 2 of Head Coach Willie Fritz's tenure at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28 against Stephen F. Austin on ESPN+ inside TDECU Stadium. The Cougars are set to tussle with the Lumberjacks for the fourth time in program history.
Three other Big 12 schools will open their season on Thursday, Aug. 28 including UCF, Oklahoma State and Cincinnati.
Houston's Big 12 opener against Colorado, slated for Friday, Sept. 12, will kick off at 6:30 p.m. at TDECU Stadium on ESPN.
Houston and Colorado meet on Sept. 12 for the first time since 1971 when the #8 Buffaloes beat the #15 Cougars 29-17 in the Bluebonnet Bowl on Dec. 31, 1971, in the Houston Astrodome.
The Cougars' third Friday matchup of the year at UCF on Nov. 7 will air on FS1 with the kick time released closer to game week.
Houston and UCF meet for the 12th time on Nov. 7 with Houston seeking its first road win against the Knights since 2015.
The Cougars had previously announced their kick time and network designation for their non-conference game at Oregon State set to be played on Friday, Sept. 26 at 9:30 p.m. CT on ESPN in Corvallis, Ore.
With three Friday night games, Houston is set to play multiple weekday games for the second consecutive season.
The Cougars are 7-3 in Friday night games dating back to 2021 with Houston beating TCU on Friday, Oct. 4, 2024, 30-19, in Fort Worth, Texas.
