(BCSNN) — UTSA running back Robert Henry Jr. has been added to the Maxwell Award watch list, the university announced. The award, presented annually by the Maxwell Football Club, honors the most outstanding player in college football.
Henry has been a key contributor for the Roadrunners through the first month of the season, helping UTSA to a strong start in its second year as a member of the American Conference. His consistent production and explosive play-making earned him mid-season recognition from the national selection committee.
The Maxwell Award watch list is updated throughout the season to reflect emerging talent across the FBS landscape. Henry joins a field of top performers from across the country, including players from the SEC, Big Ten, and Pac-12.
This marks UTSA’s latest appearance on a major national award list, continuing a trend of individual recognition for the program in recent years. Former quarterback Frank Harris was a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award in 2022, and on the watch list the next season.
The Roadrunners return to action Saturday against the Temple Owls, opening conference play on the road in Philly. Henry is expected to play a central role in the offensive game plan as UTSA looks to build momentum in October.
