(BCSNN) -- Demond Williams Jr. set a school record with 538 yards of total offense and accounted for four touchdowns as Washington defeated Rutgers 38–19 on Friday night at Alaska Airlines Field at Husky Stadium.
Williams threw for 402 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 136 yards and two scores, becoming the 16th player in FBS history to pass for 400 and rush for 100 in the same game — and the first to do so since 2023. He completed 21 of 27 passes and carried 13 times, setting career highs across the board.
“Demond Williams is a superstar,” said Washington's Jedd Fisch. “He is special, and we’ve known that for a lot of years now.”
The Huskies (5–1, 2–1 Big Ten) scored touchdowns on their first four drives of the second half, turning a 17–13 lead into a rout. Williams connected with Denzel Boston for touchdowns of 20 and 38 yards, and added rushing scores of 11 and 7 yards to close out the win.
“I was just taking what the defense was giving me,” said Williams. “You could tell their main focus was on Jonah, so being able to pull some of those zone reads and just get as many yards as I could was definitely pivotal.”
Boston finished with 98 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Dezmen Roebuck added 108 yards on four catches. Jonah Coleman scored his nation-leading 11th rushing touchdown of the season.
Washington’s defense stopped Rutgers (3–3, 0-3) twice on fourth down inside the 10-yard line and sealed the game with an end-zone interception by Ephesians Prysock in the final two minutes.
The Huskies travel to Michigan on Oct. 18. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. EST on Fox
