(BCSNN) — Texas A&M running back Le’Veon Moss will miss a significant stretch of the 2025 season after suffering an ankle injury in Saturday’s win over Florida. The senior exited in the second quarter after a seven-yard carry, walking off under his own power but not returning to the game.
Moss had rushed for 46 yards and a touchdown on five carries before the injury, continuing a strong campaign that included 389 yards and six touchdowns through six games. The setback comes one year after Moss missed most of the 2024 season with a torn ACL and MCL. Early reports indicate the injury is not season-ending, but the Aggies will be without their lead back for the foreseeable future.
"I wish Le'Veon was healthy. We're going to miss him," said Aggies head coach Mike Elko. "He's been a warrior for this program. He's given us everything he had to get ready for this season. I hope this goes as fast and as smooth as it can, but injuries are a part of SEC football. And if we're going to allow injuries to impact or derail things, we can't do that."
Texas A&M improved to 6–0 with the 38–28 victory over Florida and remains in the hunt for a College Football Playoff berth. Moss’s absence will test the depth of a run game that has averaged over 180 yards per contest and helped balance the Aggies’ offensive attack.
Head coach Mike Elko is expected to lean on sophomore Rueben Owens II, a former five-star recruit who has rushed for 327 yards and a touchdown this season. Freshman Jamarion Morrow and senior Amari Daniels could also see increased roles as the Aggies prepare for a road matchup against Arkansas.
Texas A&M has not released a formal timeline for Moss’s return, but the team remains optimistic that he could rejoin the lineup later in the season. For now, the Aggies will look to maintain their unbeaten record with a reshuffled backfield.
